Chapter 24.2: Fault Isn’t On You But On Them
How could any of that be his fault? He had merely rescued a pitiful young girl who was being taken advantage of under the hands of a minor young lordling. He was standing up for justice. He did not do anything wrong.
A few years ago, Mu Yuheng was passing by on the streets when he saw a young lordling taking liberties with a pitiful young girl who was selling herself for money to bury her dead father. Mu Yuheng had then stepped forward to save the young girl from the young lordling’s lecherous clutches. He had then brought the young girl back to the Hou Manor, and the young lordling bore a grudge with Mu Yuheng.
The young lordling then issued Mu Yuheng a challenge, asking for a duel. Right before the duel, the young girl came, bringing Mu Yuheng a bowl of soup that she had prepared with her own two hands, saying that she was just trying to express her gratitude. In the end, the poison took effect during the deal and the young lordling beat Mu Yuheng almost to death. If Grandfather had not gotten there in the nick of time, Mu Yuheng might very well have lost his life right there and then.
Although they managed to preserve his life, the prodigiously gifted youth had lost all his powers, a sparkling bright star in the sky that had burnt out and fallen.
So, the fault for all of this lay upon that young lordling, that young girl who had repaid kindness with evil, and everyone from the second branch family.
The young girl had been living right there in the Hou Manor at that time, and there was no chance for her to have possibly come into contact with any of the young lordling’s men. So, if it was said that the second branch family had nothing to do with that incident, no one would ever believe it.
“Alright now. Promise me that you will not dwell on this anymore. All you need to do now is to pick yourself up, and work towards exacting your own revenge.” Mu Wusuang said in a soft gentle tone.
Mu Yuheng nodded his head gravely, as he did not want her to worry about him.
He had wanted vengeance so much, and there wasn’t a moment that he did not think about it. How many times has it been that he had woken up from his dreams where he had succeeded in exacting revenge for himself, only to feel that tormenting despair and utter helplessness all over again.
He knew very well that it was impossible that he would be able to avenge himself. He had had so many countless doctors come see his condition, and there was no chance that he could ever recover.
He lowered his head to hide the pain in his eyes. And when he lifted it up once again, he looked at Mu Wushuang with a faint smile on his face.
Mu Wushuang patted his shoulder reassuringly and thought to herself. That smile on his little face looks uglier than when he cries, and she immediately knew that the youth did not believe her.
She had already found a suitable elixir formula for his condition in one of the books on elixirs. But as that was a grade three elixir, she needed a little more time as she was currently only able to achieve an unfinished grade one elixr.
Just wait and see. Your elder sis will definitely give you a big big surprise one day!
