Chapter 71.3: Not Playing the Cards Right

His voice wasn’t loud, so that other people around would not hear him but was just audible to Mu Wushuang and her group. No one else knew that the guard had said those vicious words and would think that Mu Wushuang was unreasonably causing a commotion.

Mu Wushuang thought nothing of what that lowly lackey had said and just went on to nonchalantly exclaim in a loud voice.

“It is by Heaven’s will that one pays what is owed. Could it be that the great and enormous Second Prince Palace isn’t able to pay up and is trying to shirk from their debt? In that case, then I will have no choice but to become nasty and all of you had better not accuse me of not showing the Second Prince any courtesy.”

The guard laughed aloud in contempt, thinking that she had overestimated herself to dare to threaten the Second Prince. Who didn’t know that the Second Prince was the source of the reigning Emperor’s little gold vault? With the Emperor shielding them, what can Mu Wushuang do even if the Second Prince refuses to pay her? Who is she going to bring the matter up to?

“Scram! Do not stand here and hinder us!”

The guard roared.

Mu Wushuang’s attractive looking eyes narrowed, not in rage, but in smiles as she turned to the people watching them to say in her loud clear voice.

“I’m sure everyone heard it clearly. The Second Prince is not a man of his words. It was agreed that I will be coming to collect on my debt today but he is making his guards chase us away instead. I am not being discourteous to the Second Prince here but the Second Prince’s actions really makes a person’s heart turn cold. If it turns out that I am unable to get my money here today and it becomes set as a precedence, who will still dare to go play at the Second Prince’s gambling house anymore? It is for the sake of the Second Prince’s reputation that I must make sure my debt is paid.”

The guard stared till his eyes almost popped out of his head. How is that Mu Wushuang able to make storming up to someone’s house to collect a debt sound so justified and righteous? It sounded as if it was not for her own sake that she had come knocking on a person’s door to collect, but was sparing a thought for the Second Prince’s reputation instead! Can she be any more shameless than that! ?

Just as he was about to burst out in a tirade against Mu Wushuang, he saw the young woman suddenly raise her hands to clap a couple of times, and two quick clear claps sounded.

Right after the sound of the claps faded off, the guards then saw several tall towering men with fierce and menacing looking faces come up to surround the Second Prince’s palace main doors.

Just as the guards thought that Mu Wushuang had hired these people here to barge their way into the Second Prince’s palace, they saw the group of fierce criminal looking men suddenly pull out a piece of white paper from their clothes, with the words “pay what you owe, do Heaven right” written in bold red ink, held high above their heads. The men then started chanting loudly in unison.

“Second Prince! Pay your debt! Pay your debt! Pay our Young Miss her hard earned money back!”

In that instant, no matter whether it was the Second Prince’s palace’s guards or the surrounding crowd of spectators, they were all stunned speechless like statues as they stared at the burly and menacing looking men going completely off script, thinking to themselves in their hearts: shouldn’t they be fighting tooth and nail to barge their way into the Second Prince’s palace and stirring up a raucous commotion?

Why are they not playing their cards like they should! ?
