Chapter 110.1: Just A Step Ahead
Mu Wushuang watched the scene before her eyes and her eyes became a little moist.
The little tree was just as high as a man but its branches were thick and strong, its leaves dense and lush, their colour bright and green as fresh scallions.
This little Chinese Parasol tree was highly virile and growing incredibly strongly, but the nutrients it was absorbing were actually the last slivers of life from all the other Chinese Parasol trees.
In order to let the little tree live, all the other trees gave up their own lives.
And it was only because of that the last little Chinese Parasol tree preserved.
“Phoenix egg!”
Little Vermillion and Little Bird cried out excitedly at the same time.
She had already seen the egg on the branch long before this, which was roughly about the size of a bronze wash basin. The egg appeared greyish white on the outside, covered in dust. There was an old aged crackline on the shell, and it was not showing any signs of vitality, like there was no life in it anymore.
“Are the two of you certain that this is the phoenix divine beast’s egg?”
On a Chinese Parasol tree, it could only be a phoenix egg, but it is also possible that someone might have put a fake egg on the tree as well.
“It’s definitely a phoenix egg and we’re certain because we’re still able to detect a sliver of its divine aura even though it is very faint and weak, which should not be the case if it’s about to be born. We do not know what is happening as well.”
Doesn’t look like it would be born?
Mu Wushuang furrowed her brows. Is something unexpected going to happen?
She was just about to reach her hand out to take the phoenix egg when she heard Little Bird’s anxious voice tell her: “Mistress wait. Before the phoenix egg hatches, its life is inextricably tied to the Chinese Parasol and it cannot leave the divine tree. I think the best thing to do here will be to transfer the entire tree as a whole into our dimensional space instead.”
Mu Wushuang did not know there was such a rule.
Mu Wushuang nodded but she did not retract her hand, and just gently caressed the phoenix egg lightly.
It was not known whether all phoenix eggs were like that or was it this an exception. The texture on its shell was rough, a little uncomfortable to touch. The old and aged crack line was dark black in colour, and it was not known whether it was dust and dirt collected inside.
However, upon closer inspection, one would come to discover that on both sides of the crack line, ancient runes in a script that was tinier than ants had been inscribed on it, looking highly strange and mysterious, which sent chill down a person’s spine seeing it for the first time.
Mu Wushuang had already purused more than half of the books in the dimensional space and she had never come across a script like this.
“What kind of a script is this? Does either one of you recognize it?”
Mu Wushuang’s brows knitted up as she pointed at the script and asked the two handsome looking artifact spirits.
The two artifact spirits stared at it for a good long while before they both shook their heads.
Little Bird then started to say: “The script gives me a dark and evil feeling. Could it be some kind of a seal?”
If that was a seal, then that would explain when the phoenix egg had caused such a great disturbance, and the reason that when it seemed like it was about to be born into the world, but its birth was impeded.
And the script on the egg felt somewhat evil, one that made people feel uneasy.
“Ouch!”
