Chapter 23.1: Kill a Chicken as a Warning to Monkeys
The vile voices of two foul mouthed gossipy women rang out shrilly from behind Mu Wushuang’s back.
She turned her head slowly around, her gaze coming to rest upon two ape faced women with saggy cheeks and sharp upturned mouths. Mu Wushuang’s eyes did not show a single sliver of emotion, like they were staring at a couple of dead people.
“Little white one, let them enjoy themselves for a little while more.”
Mu Wushuang’s lips parted slightly, her voice flat and toneless.
Before anyone around was able to fathom what her words meant, they saw a thin silver viper that was about the size of one’s thumb slither out from her wrist. Its forked tongue flicked sinisterly out of its mouth, making the people there feel suffocated.
The servants did not know what that thing was and thought that it was just a little pet that Mu Wushuang kept. It was afterall such a tiny little thing and did not seem to be capable of inflicting any damage, so their faces quickly broke out into scornful laughter.
However, right in the very next second, the look on their faces immediately turned into shock and utter horror!
That was because the little silver viper had moved quick as lightning, to burrow its way right through the bodies of the two foul mouthed women, going in and out, in and out in a quick flash, leaving many countless ghastly holes that continued to spew out copious amounts of blood in just an instant.
The two women were in intolerable and excruciating pain, their helpless cries incessant, the agony worse than death. Being made to suffer such unimaginable torment, they would rather they had been dealt a swift death under a blade.
Everyone’s heart quivered as they watched the scene before them, their knees shaking and their eyes filled with horror, terrified that they would be next. Afterall, one of the woman among those two had been in charge of purchasing in the outer courtyard, her status higher than any of them there.
A full fifteen minutes passed before the two women covered in their own blood stopped their frightful wails, their lifeline severed and lying there as two lifeless corpses.
None of the others there dared to even breathe too loudly, cold sweat beading all over their bodies like rain, with some of them even having lost control of their bowels and have soiled themselves.
When Mu Wushuang’s gaze slowly moved over each and every one of their faces, a shiver ran through them, none of them daring to meet the gaze of the young little girl, the god of Death himself.
“Sang Lan, who among them were disrespectful to you before? Point them out and teach them a good lesson here, so that I won’t have to hear them bark like a bunch of rabid dogs.” Mu Wushuang said to Sang Lan in an indifferent tone. She remembered Sang Lan saying that she was often bullied here in the Outer Courtyard, and today would be the day that they would be properly dealt with.
Sang Lan’s face filled up with gratitude. As she was short in stature and was dark skinned, she was often picked on and bullied, with some among them even taking pleasure in making fun of her. She had always dreamed that justice would be served upon them one fine day but had never thought that the day would arrive quite so soon!
