Chapter 28.1: Ptui! Utterly Shameless!
Seeing the Imperial Uncle’s face turn dark, Mu Wushuang quickly went on to say with a sheepish laugh.
“Imperial Uncle’s magnificence is undaunted, and Shuang Er is immensely impressed I must say. But….. marriage between a man and woman, if it’s not predetermined by their parents’ wishes, shouldn’t it at least be established on mutual feelings as its foundation? Shuang Er only sees Imperial Uncle as an elder and I called out to Imperial Uncle in the streets earlier in order to save my own life, and do not really have any real intention of marrying Imperial Uncle you know?”
Long Moshen’s eyes flashed with a sliver of incomprehension and query, and he then went on to ask: “How then will you be willing to marry this Prince?”
“Naturally, feelings must first be nurtured and developed you see. Shuang Er likes men who are gentle, thoughtful, romantic and powerful. He must share the same thoughts as me, our hearts linked in kind. But Imperial Uncle’s face is always so dark and imposing, which frightens Shuang Er quite a bit.”
While she spoke, Mu Wushuang was watching the Imperial Uncle carefully, deeply afraid that she would miss any single bit of emotion that might show in those eyes.
But all she saw was the man seeming to consider her words for a few seconds, before he nodded his head and replied.
“This Prince understands.”
Huh? Imperial Uncle! Why are you not playing your cards according to script! ? At this juncture, shouldn’t you laugh out scornfully, and berate me for daring to be so audacious and not knowing my place! ?
What do you mean by “This Prince understands” ! ? Mu Wushuang was feeling utterly puzzled and bamboozled.
“Brother Cousin, Jiaojiao has prepared some tonic soup for you. It’s starting to turn cold and you should take it while it’s still hot. Can I make my way in now?” A soft sultry voice rang out from outside.
Mu Wushuang’s lips curved up in a smile. Looks like Liu Jiaojiao is unable to wait any longer. She had been in here with Imperial Uncle for so long, and that woman is unable to hold herself back any longer.
The Imperial Uncle’s face did not show any emotion and it was impossible to read what was going through his mind. With an expressionless face, he said curtly: “Come in.”
“Lady cousin, are you alright! ?” Feng Yun’s highly anxious voice sounded outside all of a sudden.
“I’m fine. I just slipped for a moment.” Liu Jiaojiao’s gentle voice replied rather weakly.
“How can you be alright! ? Let your subordinate hold it for you. Your body is so frail and you stood for so long out in the snow, how can your body possibly be able to withstand that harsh temperature! ?”
Hearing that fake and pretentious skit being put up by Liu Jiaojiao and Feng Yun outside, Mu Wushuang took the chance to give her hand a mighty pull. The Imperial Uncle had not let go of her all this time, his large palm firmly gripped around her hand, not allowing her to move in the slightest.
“Imperial Uncle, let go. They are going to come in already.” Mu Wushuang said with feigned bashfulness.
“You are this Prince’s woman anyway.” Long Moshen said in a deep voice.
What his words meant, was that he can hold her as long as he wants.
Mu Wushuang really could not understand this man. He was so furious with her just a moment ago and now he is insisting on wanting to hold her hand, being so sticky like they were a young couple who had just fallen in love, completely unbecoming of his status as a tyrannical lordly Prince.
