Chapter 34.1: She’s the Future Lady of this House
After they entered the pavilion, the serving maids left on their own accord, to leave Mu Wushuang and the Imperial Uncle alone.
To enjoy some snacks and tea while admiring the snowy scenery with a handsome looking companion like the Imperial Uncle by her side, the day felt so great that she was almost going to float up.
A short distance away, two shadow guards lay hidden, melded so completely into the light shadows cast under the trees that the passing servants did not notice them at all.
Long Er looked at the two people sitting under the pavilion, and a corner of his mouth could not help but twitch slightly. He then said in a whisper to Long Yi beside him.
“Long Yi, do you think that the poison might have come to affect His Highness’ eyes somehow? I have never even seen a fly come close to His Highness before in the past but he is now allowing that Mu Wushuang to stick so closely to him, and is even admiring the snowy scenery with her……”
He could not make himself continue what he wanted to say. His Highness was dressed in white clothes and the snowy scene behind him made for a highly complementary background, a beautiful sight to see. Just the lord’s face alone was great scenery in itself but with Mu Wushuang added to it, the whole picture became rather jarring. With her fat pudgy body and all her facial features all tightly squeezed together in a ugly lump on her shoulders, she was just hideous no matter which way you looked at it, forcibly dragging their lord down from the Heavenly pedestal he could have been on.
“Long Er, you must remember that she is the future lady of this house and you cannot criticize her in any way.” Long Yi said in an icy tone.
“That cannot be true! Has His Highness really acknowledged it? !”
Long Er was highly surprised, his mouth wide open in incredulous disbelief. He had always imagined that the future lady of the house would be someone of peerless beauty, to become a match made in Heaven with His Highness, and even if she was not of high noble blood, she would most definitely be someone very powerful, to be worthy of the lord.
Never had he ever once thought that it would turn out to be someone like Mu Wushuang, a notoriously well known useless good for nothing throughout the Capital City.
“His Highness will not joke about something like this.” Long Yi said. “Moreover, didn’t you notice that His Highness is acting strangely today?”
Long Er thought about it for a moment and then nodded his head. “His Highness is acting quite odd today. No need to mention what happened back on the streets, but seeing how Liu Jiaojiao tried to threaten HIs Highness earlier, His Highness would have sent her straight to meet Hades himself if that had happened in the past! Today however, His Highness did not do a single thing to her at all!”
“No, His Highness had intended to have her killed.” Long Yi then told the man.
“Then why…..”
“Because Mu Wushuang went to hold His Highness’ hand.”
“What! ?” Long Er’s jaw dropped once again, as he recalled the sequence of events that happened earlier and realized that that was indeed the case. His Highness’ face had turned an extremely ugly shade back then but after Mu Wushuang held His Highness’ hand, the frosty chill that emanated from the lord’s body evaporated quite a bit, making it seem as if Mu Wushuang’s hand held quite a bit of magic in them.
He then recalled that a similarly strange thing had happened back on the street when His Highness’ and Mu Wushuang’s hands came to hold each other, locking together in a tight grasp. People out there had thought that the strange phenomenon was a sign from Heaven, but only the shadow guards themselves knew that it was caused by the hands of His Highness and Mu Wushuang, that made snow fall in summer, encasing everything in ice for a thousand miles.
