Chapter 4.2: My Friends Got Hungry

“Ximen Kang! Mu Ningxue! Both of you were so eager and aggressive just a moment ago to have me executed on the spot and you’ve now turned tailed to hide away like a dog? Since the bunch of you are so quick to hide, why not just call yourselves cowardly tortoises from now on since you like hiding in your shells so much?” Mu Wushuang leapt up lightly, and stood on the silver winged tiger’s back as she stared at the tightly shut front doors of the restaurant, her voice taunting and sarcastic.

“Mu Wushuang, I am your elder sister. Would you really want to see us killed?” Mu Ningxuan’s frustrated and perplexed voice wafted out from behind the doors.

“Kill you? Oh no no no. I wouldn’t want to dirty my hands. But my friends here are hungry and they would like something to eat. Why not we do this? Choose one person among you three to come out here and I’ll spare the lives of the other two. I’ll give you just three breaths’ time to come to a decision.”

“Impossible! Do not even think of that happening!” Mu Ningxuan quickly cried out.

“Three.”

“Two.”

“Argh! No!”

The doors suddenly opened, and the red clothed Mu Ningxuan was shoved outside by Ximen Kang.

“Big Brother Kang! Why are you doing this to me!” Mu Ningxuan’s face was filled with disbelief and she even cried out loudly to beg Mu Ningxue: “Big Sis! Save me!”

The doors slammed shut, and not a single sound came out.

Mu Wushuang let out a callous cackle. Humans….. are sometimes just so selfish. Mu Ningxuan was only the daughter of a concubine, so who would think that she really mattered?

“Attack!” Mu Wushuang said to the demon beasts eyeing their prey voraciously.

“ARGH! Third Sis! Spare me! I was wrong!” Tears and snot ran down Mu Ningxuan’s face, the makeup on her face a horrible ghastly mess of red and white splotches all over the place, nothing like the haughty and wilful lady earlier. She was shaking uncontrollably in fear, and something filthy seemed to appear by her feet on the ground. She had been frightened into helpless incontinence.

“Stop!”

Just as Mu Ningxuan was about to be gobbled up into the demon beast’s mouth, a shout suddenly sounded.

The very next instant, several demon beasts who were going to eat up Mu Ningxuan had their heads sliced off their necks. Blood sprayed all over her, but she had just been saved from what had been certain doom.

Mu Wushuang’s eyes narrowed as she turned to look at the newcomers who had just appeared. There were three people, with wizened white manes, their cultivation above the spirit master level.

When the head shirking tortoises Ximen Kang and Mu Ningxuan came running out to stand behind those three people, their eyes looked as if they were filled with venom as they stared at Mu Wushuang.

“Old Liu! Have her killed!” Upon seeing reinforcements, Mu Ningxuan who was covered in filth immediately screamed out shrilly with a finger pointed at Mu Wushuang, her face filled with hatred.

“How ruthless can you be? How could you make yourself bear to strike down your direct cousin! ?”

One of the old men exclaimed as he shot Mu Wushuang an angry glare.

Ruthless? If what she did here is called ruthless, then what would he call people who set fire to the Hou Manor, seeking to burn their own grandfather to death? What would he call people who falsely accuse their own kin of treason by planting false evidence? She was merely fighting evil with evil here!

But she could not be bothered to respond at all. Because Old Liu was a kept mercenary the second branch family fed with money, one of their own people.

As for the other two, one was an old eunuch from the Imperial Palace, and the other was one of Ximen Kang’s servants. These few sniveling lackeys, had come rather quickly haven’t they?

Do they really think that they would be able to save Mu Ningxuan now that these people are here?
