Chapter 43.1: Bidding War, Heavenly Price
Manager Li intentionally paused for while to keep the crowd on tenterhooks, before he slowly opened the jade bottle on the tray. A white coloured elixir with a gold twirl line then fell with a soft clink onto the jade dish the auction house had prepared. A whiff of thick and refreshing scent of herbs immediately wafted through the air.
“What a nice smell!”
“That elixir has got to be at least a level four or more! Otherwise, it would not emit such a nice smell!”
Everyone sniffed the air with their nose, as they stared at the elixir excitedly.
Elixirs from level one to three would not emit such a smell and only elixirs that were level four and above would carry such a medicinal fragrance. The thicker and more robust the scent, the better the medicinal effects.
Manager Li smiled, and then announced: “This is a level one elixir we have here, and the starting bid is at five hundred thousand gold taels!”
“How much did he say it was?”
“Level….. Level one elixir?”
“A level one elixir’s starting bid is five hundred thousand gold taels!”
“Sweet Heavens! That’s daylight robbery! A level one elixir and it’s even unfinished! How could they possibly put it up at such an impossibly high price! ? Something’s wrong if somebody is going to buy it!”
An uproar erupted from the crowd over the floor, many of them shaking their heads incredulously in disbelief.
However, just at that moment, a man with an extraordinary air around him suddenly stood up. “The Jiang Family makes a bid of one million gold taels!”
A million taels!
The price doubled in an instant!
Which caused the person who had been exclaiming loudly that no one would possibly buy it to turned red in the face with shock, stunned with his mouth wide agape.
However, that was just the beginning. The Jiang Family Head’s voice had just fallen when a white robed old man stood up to raise his voice and say: “Our Elixir Refiners Guild is willing to raise the bid to one million and five hundred thousand gold taels!”
As that voice trailed off, the floor let out a collective gasp.
It’s just a level one elixir. Do they need to rush so strongly into it?
“Hold it! The Guo Family bids three million gold taels.” The Family Head with a gentle and elegant demeanor remained seated in his seat, his voice indifferent as he called out his astonishing bid.
That could no longer be considered to be a normal bid in an auction. Where would you find anyone who raises the bid by one and a half million taels of gold at one go! ? Medical elixir families have truly deep bottomless pockets! It looks like they were determined to get their hands on the Minor Recovery Elixir!
Standing behind Mu Wushuang, Steward Wang and the guard Yun Hao watched the scene happening in the auction hall, their eyes filled with astoundment. Back when Mu Wushuang told Manager Li that the starting bid was set at five hundred thousand gold taels, they had already been stunned. Never had they imagined that in less than half an incense stick’s time, the price for one single elixir had jumped up to three million gold taels! And it might still go further up!
