Chapter 59.2: Ill Intentions

Ximen Sheng did not notice the disdain in Mu Wushuang’s eyes and thought that the young lady was being shy, so he did not go up to hold her hands again, but remained in his spot as he said.
“This Emperor’s eyes wouldn’t lie. Wushuang, this Emperor truly feels that you’re different from others and you do not need to deny it, as this Emperor’s mind is made up, and I already see you as a friend. This Emperor asked you to come out here because there is something I have to tell you. The case where Old Lord Hou was accused of treason against the country has been looked into clearly and it has been determined that Old Lord Hou was framed. That evil and black hearted perpetrator has already killed himself out of guilt and fear of punishment for his crime and this Emperor is seeking to clear Old Lord Hou’s name of those false accusations.”
Mu Wushuang scoffed coldly inside her heart. Ximen Sheng and Ximen Kang were in such deep collusion, how could he possibly not know what the branch family were up to? Now that they have pushed out a scapegoat to take the blame, they think that the people will be appeased? How laughable. But as the dead could tell no tales, anyone can throw all kinds of dirty water onto the dead person now.
Seeing that Mu Wushuang did not say anything, Ximen Sheng thought that she was too moved for words and he continued to say in a tender voice.
“This Emperor has already ordered for carpenters to go restore the Hou Manor, and Wushuang will be able to return back to the Hou Manor in two weeks’ time. Afterall, you’re still an unmarried maiden and this Emperor is worried that people might gossip if you continue to stay at the Imperial Uncle’s palace.”
He knew that Long Moshen and was treating Mu Wushuang a little differently and he thought that Mu Wushuang should not continue to stay there, in case she starts to develop feelings for Long Moshen, which would make it hard for her to be manipulated.
Mu Wushuang still could not fathom what Ximen Sheng’s objective was. Presently, it looked like he had some ulterior motive towards her, but to know what it was exactly, she would still have to wait and see.
