Chapter 69.3: Is Your Family’s Little Snake Having a Stroke

 

But unexpectedly, it was just the very next day that the Imperial Palace delivered an Imperial Edict.

It was also on this day that the snow that had fallen for an entire month finally came to a stop, the weather returning back to a fiery hot summer. The snow was still melting so the temperature wasn’t that high, but green was starting to sprout everywhere and the world was no longer a blanket of monotonous white.

When the Imperial Edict came, Mu Wushuang was in the dining room having breakfast together with the Imperial Uncle and her beautiful little brother.

Upon hearing that an Imperial Edict has arrived, the corner of her eye twitched, giving her an ominous feeling.

Just as she had expected, the Imperial Edict announced that the Hou Manor’s restoration had been completed, and she was to move back into the Hou Manor with Mu Yuheng. She was also told that the Emperor had bestowed silk and satin together with gold, silver and precious stones as compensation for misunderstanding the Hou Manor.

She laughed contemptuously to herself inside. Uncle Fu had just gone back to the Hou Manor yesterday to take a look and was told that it would be another four five days before the restoration works would complete. It was interesting how all the work could be rushed out overnight all of a sudden.

She was just about to go collect her debt from the Second Prince’s palace today and the Imperial Edict was delivered to her bright and early this morning, seemingly so eager for her to return back to the Hou Manor. Isn’t it because it was so much easier to strike at her in the Hou Manor? As long as she and Yuheng remained here at the Prince Regent’s palace, it would be hard for the Second Prince’s people to make any moves against them.

Thinking back on this, isn’t the Emperor a little too fickle minded? He had just tried to entice her with a beauty trap not that long ago and was now working in cahoots with the Second Prince to have her killed. It could only be said that the two hundred million gold taels was going to rock the foundations of the Moon Howl Dynasty and that the Emperor valued that two hundred million gold taels more than any other scheme that he had up his sleeve.

Although it was impossible that the Second Prince would be able to take out two hundred million gold taels, but no matter how much he could put together, she was only doing right by Heaven to ask for a debt to be repaid, and it was not an obligation one could dodge away from.

The Second Prince underground bank and gambling house was an incessant gold mine for the Emperor and if the Second Prince was bankrupted, the Emperor’s hand would be squeezed. Hence he would naturally not want something like that to happen.

The Emperor wouldn’t be able to bear having to give up on that inexhaustible gold mine.

But did they really think that they would be able to kill her and Mu Yuheng once they went back to the Hou Manor?

Naive!

Mu Wushuang hid the icy chill rising up in her eyes and went up to receive the Imperial Edict with a smile on her face.

“Your vassal has received the Imperial Edict and shall move back into the Hou Manor today.”

The old eunuch had not thought that Mu Wushuang would accept the Imperial Edict so easily and was quietly feeling delighted inside when he hastily beat a quick retreat out from there having caught the murderous glint in the Prince Regent’s eyes.
