Chapter 71.1: Not Playing the Cards Right

Just as Mu Wushuang had predicted, she just knew that the second branch family’s early arrival at the Hou Manor had not been to clean up the place beforehand as Mu Ningxue had claimed at all.

She came to discover when she went in to pick out her own courtyard that the second branch family had already occupied several of the best furnished courtyards.

And the size of those courtyards they chose were clearly ones that were meant for the head of the main family to live in!

Even though their grandfather had gone missing and her parents were no longer alive, she and her younger brother from the main family were still around, so it would never be the second branch family’s turn at all!

But the second branch family had undeservingly and shamelessly moved themselves right in there!

Although she didn’t mind what kind of a place she lived in all that much, but seeing the second branch family play such tricks, she just could not help feeling utterly disgusted by them in her heart.

A glint flashed in her eyes and some ideas came into Mu Wushuang’s head, but her face did not reveal anything. That just made Lady Zhang and the others so happy as they could see from her reaction here that Mu Wushuang and Mu Yuheng were still so naive and ignorant, and it would be so easy for their second branch family to control and manipulate that pair of young siblings.

Mu Wushuang and her beautiful little brother picked out two courtyards that were closer to each other and got the servants to clean the place up before they then prepared to move in with their things.

“Wushuang, where are you going?”

Lady Zhang saw that the two siblings were going out and she asked them quickly.

She had heard from Ningxue about Mu Wushuang’s bet that won a hundred folds, turning two million gold taels into two hundred million. She had never even once dreamed of such a big figure before, let alone imagining that unbelievable amount in gold.

Even if she was unable to take back her winnings, the young woman would at least be able to take back her initial bet. Two million gold tales would be enough for the Hou Manor to live in extravagance for a few decades.

So when she saw that they were going out, she immediately thought that they might be going to the Second Prince’s palace to collect the debt. It was such an astounding amount of gold and all of that ultimately belongs to the Hou Manor, so their second branch family would have a share in it too.

Mu Wushuang’s attractive looking eyes narrowed and she replied with a smile: “We are going out to collect a debt. Why? Does Second Aunt want to come along with us?”

Of course Lady Zhang wasn’t really keen on going at all. Not to mention they might not even get a single copper but come to earn themselves the hatred of the Second Prince instead. However, she still could not bear to let go of all that gold and she wanted to get her hands on them so much, and it made her say this to Mu Wushuang.

“There are still so many things to handle here in the Hou Manor, so Second Aunt here is unable to leave with you. Why not I get Yuwen to bring two guards along in accompaniment, and they would be able to protect you two as well.”
