Chapter 77.2: Ambition Higher Than Heaven But Life’s Fortune Thinner Than Paper

 

Watching from the side up till that point, the corners of Mu Wushuang’s lips arced up as she threw her beautiful little brother a wink.

Mu Yuheng had not realized that a woman could put on such a great act. If he had not known that Xin Er was planted by his elder sister, he would have thought that Xin Er was really in love with his Second Uncle.

He has really learned something today. He must not underestimate women in future.

And his admiration for his elder sister grew even more.

The affair of taking in a concubine could actually be concluded with a dinner with the family, but Mu Yuande refused and insisted on holding a banquet, to let the people in the entire Imperial Capital know that he, Mu Yuande, was taking Xin Er as his concubine.

Mu Yuande was usually not a person who would act so rashly but Xin Er just had to delicately weep to show that she did not want to fight or contend for any status and Mu Yuande’s heart would wrench up, making him willing to give her everything he could.

Rage then drove Lady Wang to fall ill. Whether she was really ill or she was faking it, only she herself knew.

Even if she did not want to make arrangements for the banquet, Mu Yuande could just get the steward to do it. In short, she won’t be able to avoid it even if she was feigning illness.

Hearing the clamour from the other side of the manor, the siblings Mu Wushuang and Mu Yuheng had returned to their courtyard and were sipping tea.

“For the next three nights, sleep here in my courtyard and be a little more careful when it’s dark.” 

Mu Wushuang said to remind her beautiful little brother.

Mu Yuheng knew what her words meant, having already decided to come over here even if she had not said anything.

He would not allow anyone to harm a single hair on her.

The Second Prince was a person who would not leave an affront to him unavenged. As he had killed the young lordling, so he was prepared to face the Second Prince’s vengeance.

And his sister’s bet had further aggravated the Second Prince even more, and he believed that the Second Prince must be hysterical with rage.

But, he did not regret anything. If he did not kill the young lordling, his inner demons would have continued to plague him. The only thing worrying him now was his sister’s safety.

Recalling that the Prince Regent had assigned his shadow guard to his elder sister, he could breathe a slight sigh of relief, but he still did not like that aloof and dangerous looking man in his heart.
