Chapter 80.3: Murderous Banquet

 

She saw that her beautiful little brother was at a critical juncture in his cultivation, like he was about to break through a bottleneck, and she could not help but sigh in silent comfort to herself, before she went on to set up a Spirit Gathering Array for him with array stones.

A short while had just passed when her brows creased up.

Because a raucous clamour had broken out over on the second branch family’s side, and it was getting really loud. The sky had just started to shed a soft hazy light and they were already kicking up such a din.

She had no choice but to use up more of her precious array stones to set up a sound proofing array, so that the noise would not disturb her beautiful little brother while he was fighting to break through a bottleneck.

That Second Uncle of hers was supposed to take in a concubine today and it looks like his heart is set. No matter how big a fuss Lady Wang kicked up, nothing was going to change. She really had not thought that Xin Er was more devious than she could have imagined, to make the Second Uncle like her so much. 

It’s good that he likes her. Mu Wushuang could not be happier to see Xin Er snub Lady Wang and the rest of the family, and they would not have time to come give her any trouble.

But, she was not so kind hearted to send a woman into her Second Uncle’s arms. She was not going to let that family enjoy any peace and slowly make all of them lose their reputation and to live in shame. It might be satisfying to have them killed and be rid of them in one stroke, but isn’t cooking a frog slowly in warm water to see them slowly stew in torment till they break a lot more interesting?

Leaving a grudge unavenged was definitely not her style afterall.

Very soon, a sudden surge of spirit energy coalesced together. Her beautiful little brother had broken through the difficult bottleneck, and his eyes then opened slowly.

“Congratulations! I see that you’ve broken through to the Spirit Disciple’s fifth level!”

Mu Wushuang said smiling so brightly to him, almost seeming like she was going to scatter flower petals over him.

The speed his cultivation was progressing at could be considered to be highly gifted already. It is said that the well prepared succeed. Having undergone a severe pitfall for the past several years of his life, his talents seemed to be higher than before.

It was as difficult as ascending to the heavens to break through to the next level for others but it was such a breeze for Mu Yuheng.

But Mu Wushuang wasn’t doing too shabbily herself. Don’t think just because she portrays herself to be such a lazybone on the surface, only thinking of ways to slim down when she was at the Prince Regent’s palace. She had not been idle at all, incessantly increasing her mental strength though elixir refinement inside the dimensional space. With the additional fact that she possessed a spirit body of divinity, so the speed of her cultivation’s progress advances like she had divine help. Her cultivation was now already at the Spirit Disciple’s sixth level but she suppressed her aura and did not want to reveal it.

Mu Yuheng saw her sister smiling like a flower in full bloom the moment he opened his eyes and he felt a warmth rise up inside his chest. He really had to thank his parents who had gone missing for so many years, though no sound or word had been heard from them, and it was not known whether they were dead or still alive, never letting him feel a single day’s warmth and affection from his parents. But they had given him a great elder sister, that made his life so much more meaningful.

“Young Miss, an Imperial Edict arrived from the Palace! His Majesty invites you to go attend the Great Floral Banquet!”

Sang Lan came running towards her in a hurry, panting heavily as she spoke.

“Grand Floral Banquet?”

Ha! Admiring flowers was definitely just an excuse, but it’s actually a banquet with insidious and murderous intent!
