Chapter 83.1: Henpecked

 

The corners of Mu Wushuang’s lips raised up slightly. She had not noticed anything at all.

Although she had her own ways of handling the Emperor and the Second Prince, someone had come out to stand in front of her and helped her get rid of her troubles, which she must say, feels rather nice.

But that same smile on Mu Wushuang’s face when seen by Ximen Sheng’s eyes, became one that showed that she was moved by what he had just said to the woman, and that was what made her smile.

Her face had slimmed down further by quite a fair amount from last time and her facial features had become more exquisite and beautiful. That one smile, was more beautiful than the myriad blooms all around them.

Ximen Sheng suddenly felt as if all the beautiful concubines in the Imperial Palace had become bland and dull, nothing like the refreshing and radiant young woman that was here right before his eyes.

Making her his Empress….. might not be such a detestable thing afterall.

Afterall, he had only wanted her killed because he had to stand on his second elder brother’s side. His second elder brother had such a great amount of assets, so it was only natural that he would not want his second elder brother to give it away to someone else just like that.

But, if Mu Wushuang were to marry him in the end, then wouldn’t all the money she won from his elder second brother then become his own?

Since it would all be his, then he wouldn’t need to care how Long Moshen was going to torment his second elder brother anymore.

As he will still be the final winner in the end.

With that thought in mind, the smile on Ximen Sheng’s face deepened. He then went on to say to Mu Wushuang.

“Wushuang, rest assured that this Emperor will not let anyone who tried to harm you come to a good end. Even though he is this Emperor’s second elder brother, I will not cover up for him. This Emperor will definitely make sure justice is served and your grievance is rightfully addressed.” 

Mu Wushuang turned to look at Ximen Sheng. This young emperor here is really such a heartless and ruthless cad. He was just seeking to kill her with poison a moment ago and he was now suddenly being so gentle and caring to her now. It was really rather hard for Mu Wushuang to fathom what his real motive truly was.

She was naturally unaware that the Grand Teacher had divined that Mu Wushuang was born under the Phoenix star, destined to become an Empress.

Otherwise, she would have immediately understood why Ximen Sheng was acting so strangely.

But that would not stop her from being able to play along with the act the Emperor had put up.

She pretended to lower her head in feigned abashment, and said in a soft tiny voice: “Let your humble vassal thank Your Majesty here. Your Majesty is such an astute and brilliant person, your vassal definitely believes in Your Majesty.”

Ximen Sheng was highly satisfied by Mu Wushuang’s shy and abashed demeanor. That fact that she was shy, meant that she harboured some feelings towards him isn’t it? As the ruler of a country, which woman under the Heavens would not yearn to be his woman?

While morning court was in session earlier, Long Moshen had enraged him quite a fair bit, his authority and position as the Emperor diminished by Long Moshen’s overwhelmingly powerful presence. But now, the woman that Long Moshen cared about, was showing an interest towards him instead.
