Chapter 88.3: Evicted and Confiscated
“Elder sis, you’ve come. Why did you not clean and brush up before coming outside? There’s so many people out here.” Xin Er said to Lady Wang in a gentle voice as she stood there with her limpid eyes in Mu Yuande’s arms.
“You little slut! Who is your elder sister! ? I did not drink any tea offered by you, so there is no way I will recognize you as a concubine in this family!”
The moment Lady Wang saw Xin Er, a fire blazed inside her. She had not done anything for the banquet last night, and all the work was done by the steward. She had stayed in her room the entire time and not taken a single step out, adamantly showing that she did not acknowledge this concubine to become part of their family.
She had never expected that that sly vixen would really have the capability to rope all those other noble ladies in to attend, and make the ladies speak ill of her, accusing her of lacking in etiquette, which angered her so much she almost died from rage.
The most detestable thing was how the Old Master did not even come to pacify her at all, but even blamed her instead!
“Lady Wang!” Mu Yuande hollered angrily. “Look at the incorrigible state you’re in! Standing out here in front of the Hou Manor’s main doors in such a disheveled and uncultured state, in what way do you look like the lady of the Hou Manor like this! ?”
He really did not want to see Lady Wang for a moment longer. Compared to Lady Wang, Xin Er was so much more obedient and endearing. That Lady Wang was looking exactly like any uncivilized loudmouth fishwife in the market, and making him lose all his face!
Lady Wang became greatly enraged. A good number of people were pointing their fingers at her and when she saw just how much gold, silver and precious stones there were outside, she just could not be bothered with her image anymore. Completely ignoring Mu Yuande, her eyes shone brightly as she ran outside and picked up a gold tael to bite into it.
“Oh, this is real gold! Who could have brought so much money here! ? Could this be a betrothal gift to seek my daughter’s hand in marriage?”
Lady Wang’s mouth had split into a wide smile.
At that moment, Mu Ningxue and Mu Ningwei came out after hearing about it and happened to hear what Lady Wang said.
Mu Ningxue then replied shyly to her mother: “Mother, what are you saying?”
“I am merely stating facts. My two daughters are as beautiful as fairies and possess extraordinary talent. This is nothing as a betrothal gift for my girls.” Lady Wang said with arrogant haughtiness.
Someone in the crowd then said sneeringly: “All these riches would surely amount to some tens of millions at least. Even if your daughter is really a fairy descended from the Heavens, no one could possibly offer such a great amount of treasure to propose to her!”
Lady Wang immediately became unhappy upon hearing that. “Who in the Imperial Capital isn’t aware that my daughters are both prodigious geniuses? You think they are proposing to some common and ordinary person? A betrothal gift for my daughters cannot be anything less than this.”
Although Mu Ningxue had no intention of marrying anyone yet, that did not mean she did not like seeing anyone come propose to her, as that just showed how popular she was.
Hence she was feeling rather curious just who could be the person that had offered such a great sum as a betrothal gift to propose to her?
The amount of people in the Imperial Capital who could take out such a sum of money could be counted on just one hand.
“The Prince Regent arrives! People who have no business here to make way!”
All of a sudden, a resounding voice rang out like a sword through the clouds, reaching everyone’s ears clearly.
