Chapter 93.2: Can’t Bear To Part With Shuang Er
Lady Wang’s ruse of being passively aggressive was rather well employed in this situation, having even used the East Dawn Country’s Crown Prince name to indicate that both her daughters were highly talented, in order to convince Mu Guobang to forget about punishing Mu Ningwei completely.
Mu Wushuang smiled coldly to herself.

On the surface, Lady Wang’s words was informing the old patriarch that her two daughters have been selected to take up two spots for the trial but in truth, she was debasing Mu Wushuang, to show how utterly useless the young lady was, and to insinuate that Mu Yuheng was still inferior to her two daughters.
Of course Mu Guobang fully understood the meaning behind those words. He had actually decided to spare Mu Ningwei just this once but upon hearing what Lady Wang said, he no longer felt that merciful. The old patriarch then went on to say in an grim voice.
“Lady Wang, you aren’t even able to teach your daughter well. I want you to go back and go into closed door reflection. Copy the Buddhist Scriptures a hundred times and you will be let out only when you’ve realized what you did wrong.”
Lady Wang was stunned in her spot. Her father in law was clearly just about to relent! Why did he suddenly decide to punish her instead?
“Father!” Lady Wang still had more things she wanted to say.
Mu Guobang stared at Mu Yuande and said in a stern and admonishing voice: “Why are you still standing there in a daze! ? Have Lady Wang sent to the prayer hall and do not let her out before she finishes copying the Buddhist Sutras a hundred times!”
Mu Yuande quickly nodded his head. He did not want to see that boorish and uncouth Lady Wang for a second more anyway. Sending her to the prayer hall would give him some moments of peace for a while.
Lady Wang panicked. She had planned to pick on that scamp, Xin Er and wanted to cause her to be driven out of the manor here but things ended up with her being locked up in the prayer hall instead. By the time she is released from there, wouldn’t things between the Old Master and that wily vixen have grown more fevered and intense?
In the end, Lady Wang was locked in the prayer hall and the responsibility of running things within the manor was temporarily handed over to the concubine Xin Er, which very nearly caused Lady Wang to vomit out blood in anger.
Mu Ningwei suffered all thirty lashes of the whip, with wounds all over her body.
