Prologue
Las Vegas, the world’s most renowned establishment for nightlife and also known as Sin City. People from all shapes of life were there, those who wouldn’t care less about spending millions on gambling, those who were wrapped up in debauchery.
As long as one had the wealth, status, or even looks, they could lay their hands on almost anything and everything there.
The Royal Hotel, it was the leading example of what it meant to be rich and powerful. There were stringent requirements to enter the club, only those with net worths ranging in the billions to their name were allowed in. But not only that, they also had to achieve a certain level of social prestige in order to enter the club, nouveau-riche social climbers were never allowed to enter the club, given their ostentatious, unsophisticated ways.
The Royal Hotel maintains its popularity even through the years, it was still as crowded as ever and there was a never ending queue of luxury cars arriving at the entrance. Those who alighted from the cars strode into the lobby, beginning to enjoy their weekly retreat at the place.
On the highest floor of the hotel, in the Presidential Suite. A couple was behaving intimately on the giant bed, no one had noticed the little red dot behind the man’s neck, it wasn’t supposed to belong there, yet it was somewhat charming.
…
On the roof of the building 500 meters away from the Royal Hotel, a woman with a winsome smile on her face was standing there, watching the couple as things began to heat up. The corner of her lips kicked up into a smirk as she slowly pulled on the trigger…
Bang! The glass window of the Presidential Suite shattered into a million shards. The man collapsed onto the ground without any warning.
Ignoring the pandemonium in the Presidential Suite, be it the woman who was horrified, or the entire bunch of bodyguards who scurried around, frantic with worry, she remained impassive and whispered in her wireless headset. “The job’s done.”
Slinging the sniper’s rifle over her shoulder, she blew a kiss in the air and pulled the wires attached on her body and her lithe figure leapt down, quickly disappearing in the darkness of the night.
Returning to the Lamborghini parked beside the expressway, she heard a voice. “You’ve used five minutes this time round, explain yourself.” A man sitting in the driver’s seat asked with a husky voice.
“Che, just because I’m very forgiving of you, that doesn’t mean that you can step over your boundaries and ask questions that you shouldn’t.” Feng Qingcheng knitted her brows and lowered her eyes, glaring at the slender fingers that were pinching her jaw.
The man didn’t say a word, he let go of her jaw and moved his hand away, starting the engine and the Lamborghini sped away.
Feng Qingcheng couldn’t care less about him, she disregarded his feelings and turned her head away to look at the scenery outside of the window. It was precisely because of that, she didn’t notice a baleful look that flashed past his eyes for that one moment.
He stepped on the accelerator and went at a deadly speed but Feng Qingcheng couldn’t be bothered with him. The man ranked second on the assassins’ chart from the Dark Night organization, known as Dark Night Absolute – Yuwen Che!
And she of course remained number one on the chart, holding the highest rank one could possibly achieve in the Dark Night Organization, Dark Night Asura – Feng Qingcheng!
She couldn’t help but feel something fishy about this partner of hers. He was an apathetic and cold person but he treated her very differently, he was far too concerned about her. Her sixth sense as an assassin told her that her best partner probably had many other secrets hidden away.
But she wasn’t concerned about that, they were partners and belonged to the same assassin organization and that was all. They only had a pure working relationship, nothing else!
She didn’t enter the industry willingly and so she wasn’t willing to invest too much feelings and get too involved in it too.
Yuwen Che parked the car in front of a villa located along the slope. He brought a folder out and said, “We’ve been assigned a new mission. Someone has offered two billion dollars to take the life of the second young master of Xuanyuan Corporation. This is Xuanyuan Hao’s basic information and his likes and hobbies! There’s also an invitation to his engagement ceremony that’s going to happen in three days. I’ll be picking you up when the day comes.” He then looked at the villa in front and asked, “You’re not going to invite me inside?”
“If you want to come in, you’re welcome to try.” Feng Qingcheng placed her finger on the fingerprint lock and the door was unlocked. She walked inside her house without a care.
The entire villa was designed by Feng Qingcheng herself. Though it wasn’t any sort of huge mansion, it comprised of everything that she needed in it. She had a nice little garden for herself, she had a variety of poisonous plants planted there, including jimsonweed, snare plants and other sorts of varieties. If one didn’t have access to Feng Qingcheng’s unique antidote, they wouldn’t be able to feel any strength in their limbs within a second. They would continue to feel lightheaded, nauseated and even develop hallucinations. They would eventually die from brain shock. The more one struggled, the faster the poison would escalate and spread even quicker, death follows through at a faster rate too.
But that wasn’t all, there were many traps all over the villa.
Be it poisonous plants, or the hidden traps, an invader wouldn’t be able to return home alive once they broke into her villa.
As the number one in the assassin organization, the organization had decided to groom her, regardless of the price tag it comes with. Other than traditional chinese medicine, Taekwondo, Aikido and modern martial arts, she was also made to learn traditional chinese martial arts, ancient chinese divination and even the arts. She was skilled in music, chess and even literature. Feng Qingcheng was an all rounder, she did well in everything she had learned.
Yuwen Che would say, “She’s not human!”
Only one who was tired of living would try to break into her house, knowing the dire consequences of their actions.
Feng Qingcheng took a shower and lay on her bed comfortably. That was her favorite part of the day, no missions for her and she could just lay on her bed after having a nice shower. She wouldn’t have to think about anything and just have a good sleep. Once she gets up from her sleep, she’d just make herself a cup of tea and water her plants, order some food delivery and play the piano. The sun rays would beam down on her and life was just great.
She had unknowingly entered dreamland and dreamed about the previous dribs and drabs in her life…it felt so surreal.
