Chapter 1.1: Return from the Immortal Realm

Heaven Dynasty Imperial Court, Heaven’s Wing City.

The autumn winds rose, lending an idyllic and picturesque air to the Heaven’s Wing City.

At that moment, upon the busy bustling street, a young man dressed in a red long robe walked among the crowd.

He looked to be about seventeen or eighteen years of age, not exactly very good looking, but with pretty delicate features, clean, like a piece of untainted and unblemished white jade. His body, was gave off an air of wisdom, not something that one as young as he was should possess, which felt more like one that would come off a wizened old man. His gaze, had an indescribable flavour, as profound as the stars high up within the night sky, seemingly able to decipher and unravel all and anything in the world.

On his back, he carried a empty sword scabbard that had no sword in it, and mysterious looking patterns were carved on the scabbard, giving people a feeling of unfathomable mystery.

“Life between Heaven and Earth, is but like a white stallion traversing over a crevice.” (Translator Note: fleeting moment)

“Maybe, the only thing that can comfort me is that the speed of the flow in the passage of time is different in the Immortal Realm and the mortal realm, a difference of a whole thousand times. Three thousand years in the Immortal Realm will only see three years pass in the Heavenly Star Continent.” Seeing the streets in his memory appearing right before his eyes, Yun Qing Yan suddenly heaved a sigh inside his heart.

“Father, Mother, Little Sister, I suffered through three thousand years in the Immortal Realm and have all of you….. been fine these past three years?”

The moment the thought that he would soon see his family came to mind, Yun Qing Yan could not help but to grow excited. To his family members, they had parted for merely three years, but to Yun Qing Yan, he had been away from home for a whole three thousand years.

No one knew what Yun Qing Yan had gone through these three thousand years. For so many countless days and nights, because he had dreamed of his parents, his little sister, he had been shocked awake from sleep.

His face , wet by those endless tears.

Three years ago in the Heavenly Star Continent, Yun Qing Yan had gone out into the wilderness for rigorous training, and he came to encounter a dimensional storm that might not occur even once in millions of years. By the time he regained consciousness, he had departed from the Heavenly Star Continent, and had come to the Immortal Realm.

The Immortal Realm was a completely different world from the Heavenly Star Continent.

According to legend, only when pugilists in the Heavenly Star Continent have cultivated their martial arts to the highest pinnacle, would they then be able to break open the void, and rise into the Immortal Realm.

In the legends of the Heavenly Star Continent, the Immortal Realm was a true paradise, a pugilist’s Heaven. But Yun Qing Yan knew that the Immortal Realm was not Heaven at all, where at many a time, the Immortal Realm was even more cruel than Hell.

There was no law and order in the Immortal Realm, where power and might reigned, the weak becoming flesh for the strong. As long as one’s cultivation was powerful enough, one would be able to act with reckless impunity, murder and arson, rape, loot and plunder….. where the only order was through natural selection, survival of the fittest.

Some Immortals would even kill just to vent out their ill mood.

Alchemy clans would casually capture people who were weak to become medical slaves, treating them as little white mice to test out all sorts of elixirs and medicine.

Most of the miners in the Immortal Realm’s mines were also abducted to dig in the mines, where not only were they not able to receive any remuneration, they were not even able to get three square meals a days.

In the Immortal Realm, the one thing that was worth the least would be lives.

In order for him to be able to return back to the Heavenly Star Continent one fine day, and also to be able to continue to survive in the Immortal Realm, Yun Qing Yan embarked on a endless journey of cultivation to strengthen himself.

That journey, was a bumpy one filled with many sharp bramble thorns, where the slightest moment of carelessness might bring eternal damnation….. But, Yun Qing Yan still came to rise up and grow!

Having overcome countless life and death crises, he rose to become one of the ten all powerful Divine Emperors that could shake the entire Immortal Realm.

A Divine Emperor, was an entity who stood at the pinnacle of the pyramid in their hierarchy, where a stomp of their feet would send quakes through the Immortal Realm, and a single word from them could decide the fates of millions of living beings.

But despite all that, holding a heavenly level of cultivation, and possessing an insurmountable amount of authourity, deep in his bones, Yun Qing Yan still could not meld himself into the Immortal Realm fully.

It’s hard to give up on one’s home country, it’s hard to leave one’s homeland. In Yun Qing Yan’s heart, the Heavenly Star Continent is his true homeland, and the people he cared most about were all still in the Heavenly Star Continent.

After becoming a Divine Emperor, Yun Qing Yan had begun to search for a way to return to the Heavenly Star Continent.
